IS YOUR LIFESTYLE AFFECTING YOUR SUCCESS?

If you’re serious about achieving your health and fitness resolutions, you’ve come to the right place. We strongly believe that every fitness journey begins with healthy lifestyle choices, which is why we want to share with you the methods that we know will work for everyone.

STRESS AND MENTAL WELLBEING

The first piece of advice we can give you is to take care of yourself.  Yes, life gets busy, and putting your needs ahead of everything else may seem selfish, but trust us, it isn’t. You’ll soon agree when you’re reaping the benefits!

If you can learn to live in the moment, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. All we’re asking for is that you take a little bit of time each day to head outdoors and connect with the world. Whether it’s taking a walk on the beach or riding your bike around the block, you’ll quickly find that by focusing on you, you’ll reduce stress levels, improve your overall wellbeing, and make your efforts at the gym more effective. After all, as far as we’re concerned, self-love is the first step to success!

DIET AND HYDRATION

At Adaptive Strength (formerly Box33), we believe you’re not what you eat; you’re what you digest. Proper digestion is a must if you want to make the most of your fitness plan and achieve those weight loss goals. If it takes you less than 15-minutes to eat your dinner, you’re probably not digesting it properly. This may not seem like a big deal, but when you eat quickly and don’t chew properly, your body doesn’t register when it’s full, which can lead to overeating.

We also can’t stress enough how important it is to stay hydrated. To get the most out of your fitness program, make sure you drink plenty of water, or any other healthy liquids, such as almond milk. We recommend you drink at least 1.8-3.5 litres of liquid every day. Drinking plenty of fluids will ensure you have enough energy to make it through every workout. Staying hydrated also comes with a host of extra health benefits, like improved mood, healthy skin and less chance of getting a headache or migraine.

A BENEFICIAL SLEEP ROUTINE

It’s amazing how many of our clients come to us with the impression that over exercising and sleeping less will make them lose weight faster. Well, we can happily say that getting enough rest is just as important as making exercise part of your everyday routine.

To ensure you’re not ruining your workout efforts, getting plenty of sleep is a must! We tell all our clients that they should be in bed by 10.30pm each night, until at least 5.00am the next morning. It’s between these hours that your body is working its hardest to repair your muscles after a hard workout. If your body doesn’t get a chance to heal while you sleep, any exercise you do the next day can do more harm than good.
