Therapeutic Exercise

Lower back pain can be a symptom of poor lifestyle choices, and is your nervous system’s way of telling you something is wrong. If you’re experiencing non-specific back pain, it could be a result of a bad sleep routine, unhealthy diet, too much alcohol and even dehydration. Luckily, the qualified personal trainers at Adaptive Strength (formerly Box33) in Perth can create a customised set of exercises for lower back pain that will get you on the road to recovery in no time.

Improve Back Pain With A Kettlebell Workout

A kettlebell workout is effective if you’re suffering from back pain because it helps to establish movement. When working out with a kettlebell, you’ll be using a technique called bracing, which provides the necessary support for your spine. Bracing is something most kids will do automatically, but adults will often have to think about what they’re doing, especially if you’ve fallen into the trap of believing your back is weak. All you need to do is brace your back and breath into your stomach. This will build up your abdominals and side obliques, to ensure your spine is properly supported while you workout.

Keep Moving

Like with most types of injuries, movement is the key to recovery. If you had an accident, broke both of your legs and ended up in a wheelchair, once your legs have physically recovered you would need to go through rehabilitation to walk again. If you don’t try to get moving, you could easily end up stuck in the wheelchair indefinitely. The same goes for a back injury. Too much rest isn’t going to make the pain or immobility go away, but if you work with one of our personal trainers, we’ll show you how to keep moving without overdoing it.

Stay Hydrated

An unhealthy kidney can lead to lower back pain. To keep your kidney in tip-top shape, try to keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water. It’s also a good idea to reduce your alcohol intake.

Create A Calming Sleep Environment

Getting plenty of sleep is the key to leading a healthy life. To ensure you get the best night’s sleep, make sure your bedroom’s temperature is sitting at a comfortable 24 degrees, or cooler, and that the space is quiet and pitch black. Also try to avoid having any electro-magnetic frequencies near your head (avoid the use of laptops and phones), and set aside some time to rewind before you go to sleep.

If you’ve been experiencing lower back pain there’s a good chance your body is trying to tell you something. For a safe workout that will help ease your discomfort, contact the friendly personal trainers at Adaptive Strength (formerly Box33) today!
