What To Expect From Your First Exercise Physiologist Appointment

Your first session with one of our exercise physiologists will last 45 minutes. It begins with an in-depth discussion about your reason for visiting, any existing pain or injury, and a review of any notes from referring health professionals, such as a physiotherapist or sports doctor.

During this session, your exercise physiologist will assess your strength, balance, and mobility and discuss your goals regarding your physical abilities. This evaluation is critical for creating a tailored exercise plan to help you achieve your goals.

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing, as you will participate in some physical activities during the session. Our exercise physiologists will explain every procedure and ensure you feel comfortable, answering any questions you may have along the way.

Your exercise physiologist will also demonstrate any exercises for you to perform at home and may recommend additional care coordination with other health professionals if necessary. At Adaptive Strength, we maintain a strong network of allied health professionals—including sports doctors, massage therapists, and radiologists—ensuring you receive comprehensive, holistic care.

A doctor’s referral is not required to see our exercise physiologists unless you are claiming through Medicare, Workers’ Compensation, a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA), or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA).
