Imperfect action is better than perfect inaction.” – Harry Truman

Whenever you start a new endeavour, to get the maximum results in the shortest possible time you generally need to know 2 things
1) Where are you now
2) Where you want to go

And as the saying goes… It is like going from A to B.

Once you know these 2 things you can map out a plan and get moving towards B.

The diagram above is how most people think. This is a very linear, one dimensional approach.

But what happens if you don’t have a compass. How do you know you are going to be moving in the right direction?

This is where to true problem exists.

Most people don’t have a compass and don’t know which way to move.

This leads to inaction… being paralysed.

You want to make a move, but it’s easier to make excuses because it’s scary to take the first step.

All these questions start popping into your head… What if I move in the wrong direction… Will I be wasting my time… Can I actually go backward… What is the first step… Where do I even start… What if I fail… It probably won’t work for me… I just don’t have the time… My friend tried it once and it didn’t work for him/her.

Many of us struggle with this inner battle every day. We are paralysed by the fear of starting and don’t believe in ourselves.
It’s easier to stay in your routine because you know what to expect day in and day out. It’s safe and comfortable for you.

That’s why the phrase Failing Forward is so important. Without trying something, you never know if it’s the right path to be taking.
What many people don’t know, is that in reality especially when starting out, it looks more like this.

“B” can be anywhere around you. In any direction. The circle is trying to represent this. This may not make sense at the moment, but keep reading…

You can—and should—dream big and bold. But you need to be realistic.

If your “B” is realistic, it does not matter what direction you move you will get to B. The secret is being realistic.

The key is to just start moving… Both literally and figuratively.

Don’t get paralysed by the fear you might be going in the wrong direction.

As you can see, you can get to “B” in any direction.

Actions produce energy and momentum.

Getting moving doesn’t drain energy; it tends to build energy.

As an old mentor of mine used to say, “There are many ways to skin a cat”. Sorry to all the cat lovers out there. In other words there are so many ways you can achieve something. Not all ways are equal, some are better than others, some produce quicker result than others, but still there are many ways to get to your “B”.

Finding a source of guidance is the key to giving yourself the best chance at success and eliminating all the unfounded fears you have about failing and never making it to “B”.

At Box33 we are more than a training facility, we are your source of guidance.

And remember, failure is only final if you don’t try or give up.

You’ll never be perfect, no one is, so enjoy the process of trial and error.

Your “new endeavor” may cause you fear, but the ride can also bring excitement and growth.

It is your choice.
