At Box 33, we believe that you shouldn’t have to choose between personal training or group fitness classes and often we encourage a combination of both. Generally, you wouldn’t replace personal training with just group classes, as those sessions aren’t as specifically tailored to your needs, but the combination of the two will strengthen your overall program very well.

Continuing to workout one-on-one with your trainer ensures that you’re still getting the individualised attention you need to reach your goals, but there is no reason why you can’t take part in a couple of group classes in between your sessions and freshen up your routine.

This way, you’re not only getting a very targeted workout from your trainer, but you also get the social benefit on the side from your group classes – the perfect balance.

The Advantages of Group Fitness Classes

If you’re finding yourself not quite ready for personal training sessions yet, or want to build a bit of confidence about working out first, then group fitness classes are the perfect stepping stone. They’re great for couples who are starting to train together too!

Our group training sessions are a great opportunity to be surrounded by more like-minded individuals, whether you’re a beginner or more advanced. It’s also a great way to get started at the gym by learning to do exercises while one of our trained professionals is there to keep an eye out and make sure they’re done correctly.

First Thing’s First

We often hear people say, “I can’t come in for personal training yet, I have to do a couple of weeks in the gym first,” but this is a common misconception. The way our group fitness classes and personal training sessions are set up is to cater to all fitness plans and levels. In fact, it’s easy to do more damage than good by going to the gym and trying out exercises if you don’t know exactly what you’re doing, so it’s always best to go to the professionals first.

We always recommend that personal training goes hand-in-hand with group training classes, as there are certain moves that are not recommended in group classes if you haven’t gone through the movement training we provide in our personal training sessions.

Our Box 33 trainers will use your training session to bring you up to speed to where you need to be (especially if you’re a beginner) so that you can feel confident and secure to complete all aspects of group training.

Mix Up Your Fitness Routine

We are firm believers of always switching it up, so if you do choose to add a few group training classes to your routine, then make sure you include a mix of cardiovascular training and strength training.

The Box 33 group training schedule is flexible to suit your lifestyle, whether you work 9-5 or make your own hours!

We also have a fantastic relationship with Yoga Sita studio, and you won’t believe how beneficial strength training can be when combined with yoga, which helps strengthen your mind, body and overall fitness program. The studio has a great feel, is very unintimidating and unassuming, and includes lots of like-minded people. The cross pollination of the two is the perfect mix for your fitness plan!
